Screening of the film “Living and Working in NovaCity I,” with the director in attendance, followed by the
discussion “NovaCity I: The Experience of Living Together,” with Fabrice Cumps (Mayor of Anderlecht), Lisa de Visscher (Bouwmeester Maitre Architecte), Benjamin Cadranel (CEO of citydev.brussels) and Oana Bogdan (founding architect of &Bogdan).
"Brussels is seeing small businesses reappear in the city and even on the ground floors of residential buildings. Launched in 2023, NovaCity I is the first project of its kind in the capital, the result of a new public policy. Hicham, Pauline, Xavier, and 65 other families buying their first homes live on the upper floors of this brand-new building. Roldan, Noune, Théo, and 13 other entrepreneurs have set up their businesses in the ground-floor workshops. During a unique gathering, residents and entrepreneurs meet for the first time, invited by the filmmaker to share their experiences and, hopefully, defuse certain conflicts.
By seeking to deconstruct urban utopias and the images that stem from them, they attempt together to sketch out a future for their new home. This endeavor is all the more necessary since, in a few months, NovaCity II will be built right across the street..."
